My Favorite Painting in the World

My favorite painting in the world today is not found in the Sistine Chapel or in the Louvre.  It was not made in the Italian Renaissance, although great works of art were made during that time.  My favorite painting in the world is not of a Biblical nature, as I am a Christian.  It is not large by any means and only showcases one person, not many people.  It is not a painting of a famous person, by any means, at least that anyone can tell.  Ofcourse, that does not make the subject of this painting any less special, but gives you and I the ability to relate to the subject and to what they are doing.
You see, this painting prooves that great art is not made necessarily by what or who the artist is painting, but what the subject means to the artist.  All of us feel a certain way toward things; whether it's a cloud, or a rainbow, or a smile.  All of us share our feelings with our friends and our families.  Artists may do this with a brush, paints, and a canvas.

I have never seen this painting up close and personal before, but I do see it everyday on the homescreen of my cell phone!  I would like to share it with you, too.  The artist's name is Johannes Vermeer and the painting is titled, The Milkmaid.  The simple beauty of a woman patiently pouring milk into a basin has captured it's viewers for more than 350 years, and as you view it, I believe you will see why it is my favorite painting in the world.
