KORNOWSKI ORIGINALS

Norman Rockwell: American Imagist

Recently, my wife and I were able to visit the Norman Rockwell show at the Paine Art Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin  (www.thepaine.org).  We were floored.
Rockwell was extremely talented at catching a moment in a person's life, and leaving it on canvas for future generations to observe.  The detail this man put into his work is easily on par with the works of the Old Masters.   Two of them looked very Rembrandt-esque (if that is a term!).  My personal favorite was Shuffleton's Barbershop (pictured below).  Oh, did I mention we saw his original work, not just reproductions?  One can learn much from viewing the actual artwork; the very brushstrokes and layers of paint tell a detailed story that no photo reproduction ever could.
If you can, I would encourage you to view Rockwell's original artwork if you can at some point in your life.  Norman said, "I paint life as I would like it to be."  I think that rings true with all people.  We all see the world as WE see it, that is what makes us all unique.  And that is what makes people gaze for lengthy periods of time at Rockwell's beautiful art.
